Focus and Scope

The aim of this journal is to open up various horizons in the field of History and related disciplines. The journal encourages the research and redefinition of existing or popular theme(s) that could offer policymakers pragmatic options within an intellectual framework.

We, therefore, welcome well-researched papers in the field of History, International Relations, Gender, Development Studies, Sociology, Political Science and other related disciplines. While we are open to a wide range of geographical scope, preferences are given to papers that address the problem of development and underdevelopment of the African continent.

Please note that this journal only publishes manuscripts in Standard English.

Peer Review Process

Review and Editorial Procedure

At ACUJHIS we use independent, double-blind peer review to ensure that the articles we publish are of a high international standard. Receipt of manuscripts will be acknowledged by email less than 24 hours upon receipt. The Editor may issue desk rejects if articles clearly fall outside the journal’s scope or other requirements. Articles that are considered by editors to be of sufficient quality and relevance to consider for publication will be sent out for peer-review. Articles accepted for publication will have been reviewed by at least two expert readers. Final acceptance of articles is conditional upon suggested revisions being satisfactorily executed, and a second round of review may be required. The Editors and the journal’s Editor(s)-in-Chief are responsible for the final decisions on articles, after taking external reviewers’ reports into account.

When an article is accepted for publication it will go through a reference-checking process before being published.

Open Access Policy

Ajayi Crowther University Journal of History and International Studies (ACUJHIS) is an open-access, peer-reviewed and refereed journal published by the Department of History and International Studies, Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Oyo State. It is published bi-annually in June/July and December/January.

Archiving and Indexing

The journal was only recently created and efforts are being made at getting indexed in reputable repositories such as Google Scholar, African Journals Online (AJOL), Nigerian Journals Online and other international outlets.

Revenue Sources

We are making efforts in securing financial support on a regular basis so as to defray publication cost and reduce or totally eliminate Author Processing Charges (APC). In the interim, however, authors are required to pay a publication fee, details of which are contained in the ‘Submissions and Author Guidelines’ link.
